Unregistered Massage Therapy Intern

Interns are students at a massage therapy school and receive hundreds of hours of training and in-clinic practice. Interns are not registered, therefore if you want to claim the treatment through your extended health care you will need to book with one of our RMTs.

Elise is a massage therapy intern nearing graduation, with 550 hours completed in her clinical internship. She is a skilled practitioner who plans to continue at Klinik upon receiving her RMT designation this summer.

Fulfillment for Elise lies in serving diverse demographics, especially infants, children, and young adults. Introduced to massage therapy early, she advocates its benefits for all ages, focusing on trigger point release for upper back and scapular tension, as well as Swedish massage techniques for face, scalp, neck, hands, and feet. Intrigued by “face lift” massage trends, she aims to integrate them into her practice to alleviate facial tension and nervous system activation.

The driving force behind Elise’s commitment to improving people’s well-being stems from a deeply personal experience— the sudden loss of her mother to a heart attack. This pivotal moment inspired Elise to prioritize her own health and pursue a fulfilling career centered around assisting others.

As a member of the queer community, Elise values inclusivity, extending a warm welcome to individuals from varied backgrounds with empathy and respect. Her genuine commitment to diversity drives her to create a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and cared for.

Graduating from the Vancouver College of Message Therapy in April 2024. Anticipated to have her RMT designation by July 2024.

Rob is a registered massage therapist well versed in musculoskeletal and systemic conditions. He brings a special interest in treating neck pain, back pain, and tension headaches, and in using therapeutic massage techniques to reduce stress and anxiety.

His goal is to personalize care based on patients’ individual needs to assist them in achieving optimal health and function. Rob understands the importance of treating each client as a whole person, and he enjoys the challenge of uncovering the root of dysfunction or pain, rather than simply treating symptomatically.

Rob’s approach includes a focus on releasing soft tissue restrictions for greater tissue mobility and flexibility. To do so, he uses a combination of relaxation techniques, joint mobilizations and firm pressure tissue massage, fascial work, muscle energy technique, and passive and active movement—reducing pain, increasing function, and enhancing overall well-being.

Hilary is a certified Anat Baniel Method℠ (ABM) practitioner, with Anat Baniel Method℠ mastery certificates for working with children with special needs, high performers, as well as clients interested in vitality and anti-aging.

Hilary is also the mother of a high school student who lives and thrives with a dual diagnosis of cerebral palsy and autism spectrum disorder. After years of following traditional therapies that produced more frustration for him than meaningful change, she brought him to an Anat Baniel Method℠ practitioner and noticed immediate improvement.

The Anat Baniel Method℠ was not only life-changing for him, but also for her. This gentle movement instruction allowed Hilary to overcome six years of chronic back pain. Her son—contrary to the expectations of the local gait lab—learned to walk at age eight. He began regulating his emotional responses, increased his social interactions, and dramatically improved his performance at school. Now an Anat Baniel Method℠ practitioner herself, Hilary lives her passion of supporting others in realizing their potential, even in the face of enormous challenge and trauma.

Certified by The Anat Baniel Method Center, San Rafael, California. (General Practitioner Certificate April 2013, Children with Special Needs Certificate April 2014, Vitality and Anti-Aging Certificate September 2014, High Performers Certificate July 2015.)

Terri is a registered massage therapist who engages with pain, posture, injury, and trauma, meeting layers of experience and perception specific to that individual. A massage therapy session with Terri includes manual therapy using a listen-and-follow approach that honours all that presents in that moment for the individual. Terri’s techniques have been refined through a daily routine of anatomical study, embodiment practices, and extensive continued study of visceral, neural, and vascular manual therapy with Jean Pierre Barral.

Physical health and posture are inextricably attuned to the emotional and spiritual; healing is about welcoming all that information into the room. In this work, the intention is integration by getting curious about and witnessing holding patterns. Through observation and insight, we are able to reframe perception, accident, injury, and traumatic experience.

Graduated from Vancouver College of Massage Therapy, with continued studies through Barral and Upledger Institute, among others, including the study of SomatoEmotional Release and Theta Healing®.
